Salcombe

Salcombe is a beautiful and unique place. Found at the southern-most point of Devon at the mouth of a beautiful estuary, Salcombe is home to much wildlife that you would be hard pushed to find outside the area.  This fact alone is just one of the reasons why Salcombe finds itself such a popular destination for walkers and ramblers, all keen to find that ‘one of a kind' scenic coastal walk.  And for even more wildlife, why not pay a visit to the nearby Dartmoor Zoological Park, or perhaps take a trip into Plymouth and visit the National Marine Aquarium.

Salcombe also proves very popular with those just seeking a calming environment, away from the hustle and bustle of their regular lives.  Together with such a picturesque backdrop, this peaceful and relaxing place has won the hearts of countless of visitors, many returning year after year.

Unspoiled beaches, such as that at Bigbury with it's famous Burgh Island, line the coast in this area, stretching out into calm waters which attract boating enthusiasts of all varieties.

As well as the many boat trips there are to choose from, other water sports enthusiasts have also found Salcombe to be the perfect location for their needs, with its abundance of excellent diving points and its perfect windsurfing conditions.

North of the main beaches and linked by road and ferry, is Salcombe town, with it's excellent galleries and museums, which provides plenty to do when out of the water.

There is also an abundance regular shops to serve your everyday needs, in addition to those offering designer surf and sail wear.  Whilst in the town, sampling of the famous Salcombe Dairy Produce is an absolute must, as is sampling of the fresh local seafood.

Special events are held in Salcombe at various times throughout the year, providing yet more reasons to visit the Salcombe area.  Of these, the Gig & Rowing Regatta, Salcombe Festival, Salcombe Yacht Club Regatta, and Salcombe Town Regatta are some of the most popular.
