Pet Holidays in Devon

Some Important Notes

Most self catering properties who allow pets assume this is to be a dog. If you plan take another type of pet with you on holiday we advise that you check this with the owner when booking as small numbers may exclude other animals.

Also, there is usually a charge for pets staying with their owners in Self Catering Properties and although this is minimal it is best organised at the time of booking.

We would strongly advise against taking more pets than you have informed the self catering establishment you would be taking, and please never take a pet somewhere that doesn’t allow animals. It is usually for a very good reason that you will not be aware about and not just because the property owner doesn’t want hairs on his furniture!

A note should also be taken that many self catering establishments would prefer you not to leave your dog alone in the property, unless you are totally confident that you will not be paying a huge bill for damages when you return.

Finally, please be aware that just because the self catering establishment is one where pets are allowed, it does not necessarily mean it is suitable for your pet.  Farm animals for example, may be fine with dogs that pay them no attention, but one that chases them around the farmyard is a different story altogether. Think about whether you pet would feel at home at the place you are considering. Would the animal be forced to be on a lead at all times? A stressed pet usually leads to a stressed owner!

And if you do want your well behaved dog to accompany you for the evening in one of Devon's lovely old pubs,  the  Doggie Pubs website is an excellent way of finding a suitable establishment where they will be more than welcome.
